Newbury Youngstars will have Newbury residents “walking down the lane with a happy refrain” when they perform Singin’ In The Rain JR. Based on the 1952 movie of the same name, Singin’ In The Rain JR. takes place in Hollywood during the last days of the silent movie era. The story follows Don Lockwood, one half of the blockbuster celebrity silent movie star “couple” Lockwood and Lamont, and the extreme measures taken when his co-star’s high-pitched and nasal voice threatens the duo’s successful transition into talking pictures.

Singin’ In The Rain JR. is adapted from the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film – named the #1 best movie musical of all time by the American Film Institute.

It’s time to hear the Moon’s story, one you will NEVER forget… Gather round for the Moon’s magical story about a tippetty-top tap dancer who he has been watching at night.

Marina Skippett creeps out of her house every night to shuffle and stomp on the boardwalk to the sounds of the sea. She can’t tap dance at home any more since her evil, tractor-sized Aunty banned it! But then, one moonlit night, Marina meets a mysterious, watery boy swimming in the sea and her life is never the same again! The “truly amazing one woman power house” (Guide 2 Bristol) Tessa Bide is returning with her solo show, heralded “just everything a children’s theatre experience should be” (Childplays) to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.

Featuring stunning puppets, original live music and tap dancing that will make you want to stick 50ps to your shoes and join in!

“The Tap Dancing Mermaid is the perfect example of a show where the adults are just as enthralled as the kids.” A Younger Theatre

To an artist without the creative energy and laser-focused determination of Elles Bailey, it could all have been very different. But when you’re one the hardest-working women in blues, rock and roots, not even the tumultuous world events of the past few years can stop you from writing several new chapters in a remarkable story.

Elles Bailey, the smokey voiced, human dynamo who has powered her way to the forefront of the British blues and roots scene in recent years, finally unveiled her eagerly-awaited third album ‘Shining in the Half Light’ in the spring of 2022. This self-confessed ‘rolling stone’ continues to do everything she can to call the road her home. 2022 saw Elles play multiple high profile headline festival slots across the length and breadth of the UK and into Europe, taking to the high seas to play the Joe Bonasmassa – Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Cruise, opening for Blues Legend Walter Trout and joining Don McLean on his 50th anniversary American Pie UK tour.

jILL jACKSON
sATURDAY 29 APRIL 8PM
£15

After supporting Eddi Reader at AAC in 2022, we just HAD to have Jill return.

Jill Jackson is one of Scotland’s leading singer songwriters and an acclaimed artist within the thriving international Americana music scene. Her sensitive and sympathetic storytelling, heart-rending vocals, and sheer love of Americana music, have earned her a loyal fan base around the world and not surprisingly, drawn comparisons to the likes of Brandi Carlile and Joni Mitchell.

A natural born storyteller and award-winning artist, Jill effortlessly marries swinging American charm with Scottish heart. With five solo records under her belt, Jill’s 2018 album, Are We There Yet? was released to critical acclaim, reaching number 3 in the iTunes UK Country Charts, and racking up more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Despite her many career achievements and undeniable credibility, Jill is an artist who has often – until now – felt like the underdog. However, as the tide slowly starts to change in music and an undercurrent of female talent begins to dominate the Americana scene, Jill stands proudly at the heart of that incredible swell.
