Photo of a kneeling Juliet next to an unresponsive Romeo. Text: Candlelit Romeo & Juliet. Thursday 05 October. 7:30pm. Full Price £14. Concessions £12. Schools £8.

The friar proposes a plan: Juliet must consent to marry Paris; then, on the night before the wedding, she must drink a sleeping potion that will make her appear to be dead. Juliet will be laid to rest in the Capulet tomb, and the friar will send word to Romeo in Mantua to help him retrieve her when she wakes up.

Only it doesn’t work.

Tormented by his grief Friar Lawrence recounts the tragedy. A warning to adults about the power and beauty of young love. Candlelit Romeo and Juliet bring the story hauntingly to life.

Imagination exploding in the darkness. Candlelit use poetry, soundscapes, shadow and movement to bring their productions to life.

“Adapted by Bart Lee, who also directs, the production is an inspiration for modern playwrights in preserving the sensitivity and subject matter of such a classical piece” – The Stage

Spain’s best export, Ignacio Lopez, (Star of Live At The Apollo, The Now Show, Stand-Up Sesh, & more) scrutinises his immigrant upbringing and family tree in a relentlessly funny show about clashing cultures and never fitting in.

Sharing his biggest failures with a hilarious, globe-trotting story about music, comedy, adn cock-ups, Ignacio skewers Britain and Spain with an armada of sarcasm, silliness, and songs.

Expect observational stand-up, wicked humour, and sharp lines, from the exotic outsider comedian with over 100 million video views online.

The show promises to be an epic, powerhouse night of music from two exciting, up-and-coming UK artists. Blending alt-pop, ethereal energy and soaring vocals, this gig is for fans of striking female artists such as Kate Bush and Florence + the Machine.

Megan Dixon Hood is an independent artist taking inspiration from folklore, mythology, nature, and human beings. Exploring otherworldly and alternative genres, her music is written from deep, dark, enchanted woods, hinting at the fairytale world of Florence + the Machine and AURORA.

Together with her band, Megan creates forest pop soundscapes that gather you up and immerse you in cinematic storytelling. Past shows have seen her headline a UK tour, play festivals including Cornbury, 2000 Trees and Nozstock, perform on SKY TV, and support Rag N Bone Man. On her journey, she has enticed the ears of independent tastemakers, becoming a regular feature on BBC Introducing Stoke and appearing on Extinction Rebellion’s Creative Hub. Megan released her debut album ‘East Of The Sun’ in early 2023, inviting listeners into a world of magic and mystery.

Ålesund are an alt-pop band from Bristol UK, fronted by the ethereal vocals of British-Norwegian singer-songwriter Alba Torriset. Ålesund’s sound is a fusion of dreamy pop hooks, atmospheric soundscapes, and alternative rock riffs, which have drawn comparisons to the likes of Kate Bush, Florence and the Machine, and London Grammar.

After a busy summer of gigs in 2022 Ålesund jumped straight into the studio and ran with all the energy of playing live on stage pouring it into their next recording. The new EP is a full-throttle, up-tempo and cathartic offering that has drawn on the energetic moments of the band’s past tunes and ramped it up with high octane guitar riffs, driving bass lines and tom heavy drums, their sound always recognisable with Alba’s soaring and striking vocals bursting through. If their last EP was all about the joy of songwriting and connecting in a time of isolation, this EP is all about the joy of performing and bringing the live sound to an audience.
